Adobe Releases Substance 3D Modeler V1.7
Adobe has announced the release of Substance 3D Modeler V1.7, focusing on an improved up-res algorithm, the addition of quality of life features, and various fixes.
This update introduces an enhanced resolution increase algorithm. This improvement is particularly significant in maintaining the integrity of models by reducing unintended artifacts when increasing resolution.
In addition to the major algorithm enhancement, Modeler V1.7 includes several other noteworthy features. The update introduces progress bars for boolean operations, updated Unsaved Changes dialog boxes for better clarity, and a frame limiting option has been added to the Project stats window, which can be particularly beneficial for laptop users by helping to reduce CPU and GPU usage and decrease device temperatures.
The release also addresses various issues to improve overall functionality. Changes have been made to the handling of interior colors, ensuring more reliable results from the removal tools. This fix addresses previous challenges where interior color values, stored at a lower resolution than clay, could cause color artifacts when using the Erase tool. Now, the Erase, Crop, and Split tools will use the color from the Color picker when modifying existing clay. Additionally, a fix has been implemented for issues related to importing meshes without materials but with vertex colors, which previously caused shader problems.
