Illustra… What again ? I forgot.
I’ve been playing with the beta for a few days now, and Affinity Designer (referred as AD on their forum, which might sound a little confusing here), feels like a great vector app. It definitely brings a fresh experience after years of Adobe monopoly. Despite some missing features for who comes from AI (for instance, no transform tool effect as in AI), still, the way to work, the approach it’s simply great.
Of course, as every new software, it needs some time to adjust. For instance, I’ve found initially a little confusing the three modes, I couldn’t get what the Persona was, but there’s a lot of examples, tutorials around and on the forum people are very responsive.
For that price, there’s no question whether it’s worth or not: it’s 100% worth it and I’m going to buy it.
Can’t wait for Affinity Photo!
A.D isn’t just vector its also a raster program. It has raster brushes that can paint over on vector while looking like vector without being vector if needed. Its a hybrid program. Affinity Photo is strictly raster and meant for the photographer in mind for sure but still light years ahead of what Adobe is doing. As a whole this company is going to take a bit of market share in the future.
