Affinity Photo may get 3D texturing tools

A screenshot by Affinity Photo Lead developer Andy Somerfield has been posted on the Serif forum that shows development work on 3D texturing tools inside the popular photo editing application. According to Somerfield the image shows two documents open, on one “you can see the texture itself, the other document is the normal map – both are being edited and a realtime preview is being rendered on a .obj model in the new Model panel”. I am a big fan of Serif Products. I have pretty much eliminated Adobe from my tool set using HitFilm, Fusion, Affinity Publisher, Affinity Designer & Affinity Photo.

Not because Adobe has introduced a subscription model but because their products are old and bloated and just not as good (in my opinion). The subscription is just the final middle finger.

One of the most noticeable differences in quality was between Affinity Publisher vs InDesign. InDesign perfectly sums up how badly Adobe needs a core rewrite of all their ancient software products. The same thing happened to Quark Express when InDesign came onto the scene.

Being able to run a lot of Photoshop plugins in AF is a real bonus as well as open PSB and PSD files. Affinity Designer can also open AI files which is a huge bonus.

I would highly recommend people grab a copy of their Adobe alternatives.

I agree 100%.

And -50% sale still available. They expanded their offer with one month. https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/supporting-the-creative-community/

Quark. I just threw up a bit in my mouth. I hated that program so much when we had to use it in college. Nothing on the screen looked the same when it printed out. Ughh. Thanks for the flashback.

AP is a great software, but in some areas still lagging behind PS (and in other much better). Great they want to take a bit from Substance Painter now. I hope they will add missing functionality from PS as well.
