Based on research for SIGGRAPH 2013, university students Zhili Chen, Renguo Feng and Huamin Wang have a video up on Youtube showing the effects of air dynamics between cloth and soft bodies. One such example demonstrated in the video shows the effects of a pillow with a pillowcase on it. Watch the video on Youtube.

Awesome sims! Thanks for link Tobbe, some of their other videos are also worth watching ^_^

Maybe it’s also worth posting this r&d (somewhat related to air dynamics for water sims):

I’m wondering how well can Fumefx be used to simulated the air field, and transfer those velocities for particles.

Oh you’re right, those links are interesting! I didn’t seem them. I think if people are interested in this stuff, they’ll see your comment as well perhaps? I’ll let Pablo post them if he thinks they should have their own news items!

Dude that sim with air field is spot on, I have been wishing for air-fluid interaction for years!

Hah adding fume as an air-field, you could do some wicked cool stuff 🙂

It says in the comments that the way he did it was to fill the container with very low density particles which makes complete sense because you’d want the liquid to interact with the air as much as the air interacts with the fluid. Been meaning to try it out, I am sure it increases simulation time quite a bit but it definitely makes a difference!

@Jeff Lim
In “flip air field” as author explain on forum the particles that flying has a very low viscosity. There are no any air field, It’s just looks like it have.

For do not any “wonder how fumefx” try to use houdini and test your’s ideas.
Building solvers in Pflow of course cool idea, but why try to make “horse to fly “. You can do any math with fields and make you shaders so it’s pretty fun.
PS in case you entangle me with Zanic i put a one letter to Name 🙂
