Daniel Martínez Lara has uploaded some videos showing how to use sculpt tools in Blender for animation (AniSculpt), with this technique one can make squash & stretch effects, redefine the shape of a model at a specific frame, modify the expression of a face, fix skinning problems, etc. Check out the videos: AniSculpt video, AniSculpt Test01, AniSculpt Maya to Blender connection.
