Boris FX has acquired Vegas Pro, Sound Forge and Acid Pro from MAGIX Software, and has released version 2026 of Vegas Pro. The development teams and engineers behind Vegas, Sound Forge and Acid Pro will remain dedicated to working on the software. Boris FX has maintained the perpetual licensing option and also offers rental-based licenses.
Vegas Pro 2026 new features include advanced 2D/3D titling tools (with Boris FX Continuum), support for NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, enhanced AI-based Z-Depth Effect, AI-driven transcription and voice generation tools, and support for the ProRes RAW format.
Boris FX Vegas Pro is available in three versions: Vegas Pro, Vegas Pro Plus and Vegas Pro Ultimate. Each one builds on the core editing platform with additional visual effects plugins and professional audio tools. Vegas Pro and Vegas Pro Plus are available with subscription or perpetual licensing. Vegas Pro Ultimate is available as a subscription plan. The Vegas Pro 2026 update is available at a discounted price for owners of previous versions of the software.
Sound Forge and Acid Pro software join Boris FX’s Pro Audio division, which also includes Sequoia, Samplitude, CrumplePop and Music Studio. Each toolset brings unique capabilities for music and audio creators.
Vegas, Sound Forge and Acid were initially developed by Wisconsin-based Sonic Foundry. Vegas Video was released in the year 2000, it offered many advantages over Premiere, the editing software developed by Adobe. Vegas, Sound Forge and Acid were sold to Sony Pictures Digital in 2003. Sony sold them to MAGIX Software in 2016.
