Joker Martini released a couple of spline tools for making pipes years ago, and this seems a logical extension of them. If the code is original, who cares. Its not difficult to find lots of examples of similar products across the script/plugin market.
It looks like there was a gap in the market for a reasonably priced alternative? Similar phenomena to Adobe vs Affinity.
