The latest version of Maxon’s flagship 3D application brings new MoGraph features including a Voronoi Fracture object for procedural object fracturing and a ReEffector tool that works like a layer system for Effector setups. New interactive knife tools enable easy precision cutting across multiple surfaces while the 3D object tracking capability helps integrate 3D assets into video. R18 also offers additional shader and surface effects, as well as Substance Engine integration.

Cinema 4D R18 is available for Mac OS X and Windows through perpetual and rental licensing. Linux nodes are also available for network rendering. More on Maxon’s website.

Nice new features.
I wished they would come out with the revamped core in order to speed up the viewport, hopefully in the next rel.

I have feeling that C4D R20 will have this new core finished with new features which will benefit lot from new core architecture I hope.

Sidefx (Houdini) and Maxon (C4D) both re-desing their core architecture at the moment and there was couple of years ago news from their partnership: https://www.maxon.net/en-gb/news/maxon-news/article/maxon-kuendigt-partnerschaft-mit-side-effects-software-an/ “First steps consist in the development of a Cinema 4D Plug-in for the Houdini Engine.”

First steps… and now they both are re-designing core so does they have co-operation? Some idea how they both can benefit from new design? If I remember right they both have released info that they have already designed new core couple of years.

There was also this: https://www.fxguide.com/quicktakes/fmx-2014-houdini-engine-for-cinema-4d-realflow-2014/ “Interview with MAXON’s Oliver Meiseberg and Side Effects’ Jeff Wagner.” it was quite interesting watch and they both were interested from partnership. I hope they do best to compete with AD industry.
