After going through beta testing, the latest version of Blackmagic Design’s editing, grading and digital audio application has been released. Version 14 brings up to 10x performance improvements, a new audio postproduction suite with Fairlight audio built in, new editing and grading features, multi-user collaboration tools that let multiple people edit, color grade and mix audio from multiple systems, and a price reduction of the Studio version from $995 to $299 (permanent licenses, no rental).
Version 14 includes over 20 new FX filters for removing dust, fixing dead pixels, warping images, etc. A new face enhancement tool automatically recognizes and tracks facial features so colorists can quickly smooth skin, adjust skin tone, brighten eyes and change lip color, all without having to manually select or rotoscope any part of the image. In addition, there are new stabilization, match move, and other image processing tools.
Editors get new slip and slide trim commands that make it easier to dynamically trim live on the fly during playback. They can now save interface layout presets, view multiple bins at once and open multiple bin windows. Also included are new marker overlays, audio only and video only edit tools, track colors, and subframe audio editing.
DaVinci Resolve 14 Studio does not require a connection to the internet or recurring rental payments to work. The software is available today as a free download from the Blackmagic Design website for all current DaVinci Resolve and DaVinci Resolve Studio customers. The Studio version is available for $299 from Blackmagic Design resellers worldwide. More on Blackmagic Design’s website.
