Eric Mootz has released a new version of his particle mesher plugin. Previously compatible with Softimage only, it is now available also for Maya, Modo (alpha version), Fabric Engine and as a command line tool.
Additional features in this version include a Liquid Shaper for smoother looking meshes, a normal vector algorithm for reducing flicker, a new multi-threaded mesher core, very low memory consumption, can mesh dozens of millions of particles, etc. New versions of the plugin are planned for Cinema 4D, Houdini
and Fusion. More on Mootzoid.com.
no mention of 3ds max version…modo, maya, soft, fabric engine…cinema4d later…
Sounds like they are planning a version for every major 3D software except Max. Looks pretty good, have no idea whether it’s better than Frost for liquids though?
I’m very excited to see it coming to Houdini! I’m buying it the minute it comes out for that platform! Awesome!
I asked the developer once, he felt there are enough Meshers for 3ds max around, e.g. Frost and Pwrapper… Maybe he needs to know that I’m not the only one interested 🙂
There’s only one developer, which is Eric and he’s a nice guy.
But I doubt he wants to keep developing to AD products after Softimage. Keep in mind that all his plugins were developed for Softimage and now he’s branching out because AD was so nice to Softimage users.
Pwrapper? I thought that was pretty much dead. As far as I know the only decent meshing available for Max is frost at the moment. I think it would make sense to develop for Max before C4d.
If you guys contact him, I’m sure he’ll consider. He’s very open and a great guy.
Yes, Eric is very nice… since he supports so many platforms now another one wouldn’t harm 😉
