– San Francisco: June 16
– Toronto: June 9, June 15

Side Effects Software is also offering an opportunity to participate in its Houdini Developer’s Kit (HDK) course in Santa Monica. Only offered once or twice a year, this course will cover key capabilities of the HDK, including special development examples. Mark Elendt, who won a Technical Achievement Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 1998, will teach the course.

Requirements: A good knowledge of C++, the Houdini Introductory Workshop and a good understanding of the Houdini workflow. The $700 two-day training session will be held in Santa Monica June 25 – 26.

In Toronto, Side Effects Software is offering CHOPs in Houdini 4.1. This one-day course offers training to artists and technical directors in CHOPs, Houdini’s non-linear CHannel OPerators. The user will learn how to create events using CHOPs in replacing keyframing or expression writing. Using CHOPs, participants will learn to use the same powerful tools used by top Hollywood artists to create and control the stunning universe in Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Requirement: Houdini Free Introductory Workshop. This $300 course will be held in Toronto June 16.

Reservations are required for all Side Effects Software workshops and training sessions. Reservations must include name, title, company, phone number, and a brief summary of 3D animation industry experience. To reserve a seat or for more information contact Side Effects Software at training@sidefx.com.
