A new version of the open source graphics software has been released. New features include:
- 16/32-bit per color channel processing
- Basic OpenEXR support
- On-canvas preview for many filters
- Experimental hardware-accelerated rendering and processing via OpenCL
- Higher-quality downscaling
In addition, native support for PNG, TIFF, PSD, and FITS files has been upgraded to read and write 16/32bit per color channel data. Check out the release notes and development roadmap on GIMP’s website. Also of note, the GIMP project turned 20 years old this month.
