Eva is a renderer by Algorithmic Arts that is designed to produce non-photorealistic images from 3D scenes. It works by performing “operations on output images, such as scan converting surfaces, applying effect filters to rendered layers, and drawing brush strokes based on an analysis of scene geometry”. There’s no mention of communication with Max yet (there’s just an old reference to a Softimage plugin) but an NT version of the renderer (currently runs on IRIX machines) is in the works.
