announced Houdini Select, a lower-priced version of Houdini that will feature a subset of its functionality. Houdini Select will include complete modeling, animation, texturing and integrated rendering with Houdini Mantra and will have a retail price of US$1999.
Houdini Select will be compatible with Houdini, enabling facilities to seamlessly expand their capabilities at any time. The full Houdini product includes character tools, powerful effects, integrated compositing, the development kit, and a wider range of rendering options. Houdini Select runs on NT, Linux, Irix and Solaris and is expected to ship simultaneously with Houdini 5 in early 2002.
