Mill Mascot puppet system for real time animation
The Mill has released a video demonstration of a new virtual production system they call Mill Mascot. It uses real-time technology combined with motion sensors to control characters using hand and facial gestures as though they were puppets. as a result character animation can be previewed and modified live, according to The Mill “the system enables broadcast quality CG characters that are not animated but performed, live and in real time. The system by-passes the lengthy timelines involved with traditional animation and pre-rendered content, reducing animation and rendering time down to 42 milliseconds per frame”.
