The Foundry announced the upcoming release of Modo 10.0v1, an update to its flagship 3D application. The new version improves creation of real-time content for games and virtual reality. New features include: assets created in Modo will look virtually the same in Unity or Unreal Engine, ability to get realistic detail into real-time assets more easily through a streamlined texture baking workflow and new ways to export to popular engines featuring simple automated steps. Modo 10.0v1 will be available in the second quarter of 2016 and will be followed by the releases of Modo 10.1 and Modo 10.2. More on The Foundry’s website.

The Foundry said they will be demoing MODO 10 at GDC (next week) and it has a tentative release date of April right now.

what they have shown so far on direct connect are game based new features like improved viewport capability with lights shadows ambient occlusion in the viewport plus game shaders in the viewport from unreal engine and unity for example the viewport now gives a pretty accurate representation of what a preview render would look like. this is for 10.0 they have said that 10.1 and 10.2 will be introducing new features in other areas such as meshfusion, the renderer etc…10.0 looks to be released around april/may and then 10.1 apx 4 months after that and 10.2 4 months after 10.1

I’m currently using UE4 with Blender, I’m really looking forward to see how well the Modo 10.0 to UE4 bridge works.
