The corporate cynic in me is skeptical. I hope this isn’t a case where Nvidia is trying to co-opt a successful open standard, open vdb, into a proprietary format which is, conveniently for them, optimized for their hardware only. If this tech is so wonderful, why not present it to open vdb for consideration to be adopted as part of the open standard?
