In federal court today, Judge Jackson ruled that Microsoft should be broken into two companies. MSFT is expected to appeal. If the appeal fails, MSFT has 12 months to complete the breakup which will be enforced for 10 years. Justice Department will file papers to have the appeal moved directly to the Supreme Court, keeping MSFT from dragging out the appeals process.
