Errata/Addenda: another news brief published by Reuters quotes Disney/Pixar president Ed Catmull as saying that the new Vancouver studio will focus on “animation for theme parks, DVDs, television and theatrical exhibition”, centering on Pixar’s established characters. Traditional short films would continue to be produced at Pixar’s facility in California. More at Reuters.com
Pixar shows its continued commitment to short films by disclosing their plans to open a new facility dedicated to short film production in Vancouver, Canada. It’s great to see that creativity, risk-taking and experimentation continue to be at the core of the philosophy of this “filmmaker-led studio”, as John Lasseter himself often calls it.
