A tool is being developed for Houdini by Dmitry Gorohov for generating plants procedurally, in a way that they respond to light and obstacles. The plant’s main shape can be drawn by using curves that are used as guides for growth. Watch a video and find out more on Vimeo.

Is it just me or is Houdini getting dangerously close to dominating the field? Seems like the second it gets modeling and the 2015 UI refresh, it could take some serious market share.

Houdini can’t live in short deadlines. It has a lot of bugs and pitfalls.
Personally I’ll better use a Plant Factory or Speed Tree then this tool so Houdini is not a magic wand for everything.
