Silo 2024.1 released with improved UV mapping
NeverCenter recently released Silo version 2024.1, focusing on enhancements in UV mapping. The highlight of this release is the new Auto UVs modifier, designed to automatically apply and update UV layouts on models. This modifier operates in real time, adjusting UVs during modeling tasks such as moving, extruding, or cutting, thereby maintaining the integrity and consistency of textures on the model.
The Auto UVs modifier features an updated planar regions algorithm, including ‘Orient to World’, which aligns the texture map with the world’s negative Y-axis, and ‘Scale to World’, allowing UVs to extend beyond standard bounds. This ensures the material’s relative size remains constant on the model, regardless of scaling.
Various projection modes are supported, including cubic, cylindrical, and spherical projections, with planar regions being most suitable for architectural or mechanical models. A Live LSCM projection mode based on marked seams is also possible.
