Sketchup switches to subscription only licensing model
Trimble has announced that it is to discontinue the sale of Perpetual licenses and maintenance renewals. From November 4 2020, Sketchup will become a rental only application available on an annual renewal plan. Perpetual licenses and Maintenance subscriptions will be available to purchase until that date, but no further upgrades will be available once the support period has elapsed.
Trimble list a number of subscription benefits including more regular updates, access to Sketchup Web premium, unlimited projects and storage on Trimble Connect, and AR and VR features in Sketchup viewer.
Annual licenses cost $119 for Sketchup Shop, $299 for Sketchup Studio, and $1199 for Sketchup Studio. Discounts are available for students and educators.

Another unfortunate change.
Btw, i don’t see that values in blog post.
This is getting very cliche now, First get the userbase then Next stub them in the back.
I see this happening mostly when there has been low featured updates (lack of innovations). Autodesk, Adobe, Maxon (well they still have one way to buy software with perpetual licensing but its quite clear they will be subscription only in near future and most probably thei will sell their business to adobe), Vray, Corona renderer, thinking particles / cebas and now this.
assh*les move…
