IRIDAS Digital Interaction Design today announced they have started shipping the final version of FrameCycler 2.0 Studio Edition. FrameCycler is a high-end frame sequence playback application targeted at studios and production houses as well as digital animators. “FrameCycler was designed to be the ultimate sequence playback tool.”, says Lin Sebastian Kayser, head of Munich, Germany based IRIDAS Digital Interaction Design. “People have been stuck with free utilities that came with their rendering packages for a long time now. We worked together with a high-profile group of professionals from major production houses as well as innovative startups, to tailor FrameCycler directly to the workflow of Compositors, Animators and Directors”.
“Thanks to FrameCycler, we can preview our uncompressed D1 renders in real-time from our networked drives instantly.”, says Jeffrey Dates, Animation Director of Dallas, Texas based ReelFX Creative Studios. “This ability alone, has sped up productivity and allows our animators to make changes before we move into the compositing stages. Real-time playback is now in the hands of the animator on their workstation.”
Among the features of FrameCycler are high-speed direct playback of film resolution frames and advanced display modes for quickly determining color banding and alpha channel alignment.
A playlist feature allows several sequences to be queued for playback. To quickly produce daylies for distribution to a larger audience, FrameCycler directly outputs to Video for Windows files. A simulated motion blur feature gives the animator the ability to generate “what if” scenarios for motion blur, thus reducing the need for costly test renders.
