IRIDAS released version 1.8 of its FrameCycler free edition application. FrameCycler is a tool to play back animations rendered out to frames without previous conversion to a digitial movie format. Also a studio edition was announced that will play back up to film resolution frames in real time.
IRIDAS Digital Interaction Design released version 1.8 of its FrameCycler free edition flipbook application for digital
animators and announced a studio edition for release in February.
FrameCycler allows direct playback of animations rendered to frame sequences without the need to convert the sequence to a digital movie format first. A previous frame ghosting feature optionally adds an onion-skin like capability for precise analysis of changes between frames.
New in 1.8 of the free edition is the ability to zoom the image and adjust the ghosting alpha value. The new release can be downloaded free of charge from the IRIDAS web site.
The studio edition which is currently being beta tested by professionals from major production houses adds in-memory caching and DirectDraw double buffering for increased speed up to 24fps at film resolution frames.
FrameCycler studio edition is slated for release at the end of February and will contain additional mission-critical features like time code support and gamma adjustment as well as additional file formats.
