Vantage 2.6 released
Chaos has announced the release of Vantage 2.6.
Vantage 2.6 now supports Sub Surface Scattering translucency and stochastic opacity within materials, allowing gradient opacity maps to render accurately, with controls available in the Render tab under the Opacity dropdown. The release also includes compatibility with V-Ray Clipper, allowing users to import and create clipping planes for precise scene adjustments. A new water surface object has been introduced, providing an option for realistic water effects.
In virtual reality, Vantage now allows navigation with VR controllers, making it easier to explore scenes immersively. Cameras have been updated, including support for animated near and far clipping planes and smoother interpolation of camera keyframes. Cameras are now fully interactive scene objects with viewport gizmos, enabling easier selection and manipulation. A new feature also lets users set an average camera movement speed for animation transitions, facilitating controlled transitions in animated scenes.
The interface has been updated with dedicated import buttons for cameras, lights, and materials within their respective tabs. Additionally, Clay mode gains a new override option for wireframe and edge display, aiding in scene previews. Vantage 2.6 also adds PhoenixFDOcean and V-Ray Water texture support, extending compatibility with textures across platforms like Maya, SketchUp, Rhino, and Revit.
Chaos Cosmos now allows multi-asset selection and import. Finally, multi-GPU support has been added for Light Cache, allowing users to use multiple GPUs.
