The Cara system brings a custom made head rig and four cameras for recording 3D data, and is composed of two pieces of software:
- CaraLive – has access to all Cara system functions
for set up,
static calibration, capture, control and recording. Exporting is
possible from this software not only to CaraPost but to other external
software packages via a variety of formats. - CaraPost – contains frame-by-frame calibration,
tracking, editing
and export functions. The output of CaraPost consists of 3D points
representing markers on the face. Exporting from here is to third-party
animation packages.
Cara has been designed as a modular system. You can choose to use your own headgear with the Cara hardware; you can use one, two three or all four cameras, whichever best fits your needs; you can use the CaraPost processing software to output high quality 3D data or use the images straight from the logger and pass the output through your own processing pipeline or third party software. Cara can be adapted to fit into many scenarios.
