Poland-based Virtual Magic studio has posted videos of the CG projects it produced in collaboration with entertainment company Budgast. The projects include Prehistoric Oceanarium, an aquarium with large screens showing CG-recreated underwater dinosaurs, Asylum 5D, a virtual trip through a gloomy madhouse and Mysterious Underworld 5D, a ride through the interior of an abandoned mine.
The “5D” films use stereoscopic projection with cylindrical-shaped screens and can incorporate a wide variety of synchronized scents. All projects were created with 3DS Max and Mental Ray. Also of note, Virtual Magic are working on an animated feature film in collaboration with ATM Grupa SA and the Polish Film Institute, called “Golden Drops” (Złote Krople), which mixes traditional and CG animation (also created with Max).
More information on these projects can be found at Virtual Magic and Budgast.
