Pixologic has announced the release of ZBrush 4R2. The new update introduces DynaMesh, a new topological-free modelling process that maintains a uniform polygon distribution as you sculpt, allows for boolean-style mesh operations, and features a new slice brush that can split a single mesh into several parts.
In addition to DynaMesh, ZBrush 4R2 adds other sculpting features: the new curve mode enables you to apply brush strokes along a predefined curve, the clay polish function will sharpen a model’s edges or create a clay weld effect, and new 3d brushes allow you to draw filled surfaces or create lathed geometry using curves.
The best preview render now allows you to situate your models in a 360° environment and introduces LightCap designer to edit scene lights. Matcaps are now more flexible with the capability to edit hue, saturation, orientation and more, plus a new wax modifier for simulating subsurface scattering. BPR filters allow you to add post render effects such as sharpness, DOF, and colour.
In addition to announcing the update, Pixologic has also indicated that V5 will be 64 bit compatible. See Pixologic for a comprehensive list of ZBrush 4R2’s new features and watch two new DynaMesh videos by Ryan Kingslien on ZBrush Central.
