Brown Bag Films released their 2011 short film on YouTube today. 23 Degrees 5 Minutes follows the struggle of an old explorer in the Arctic as he recounts the sequence of events that find him in this precarious position. The film is voiced by John Hurt and Stuart Townsend, directed by the twice Oscar nominated Darragh O'Conell, and based on a short story by Austin Kenny. Watch it in full on YouTube.

3DS Max house Plastic Wax has posted two cinematics they created for the video game Epic Mickey 2 on their Vimeo channel. Check out the intro and ending (contains spoilers if you intend to play the game).

Thinkbox Software announced the availability of Krakatoa SR, a stand-alone version of the high-volume particle renderer for Windows and Linux that can be integrated with any 3D application. Previously available for Max and Maya, Krakatoa SR exposes both a Python-based interface and a C++ API to connect to various professional 3D applications such as The Foundry's Nuke, Eyeon's Fusion or Side Effects' Houdini. Brooklyn-based MakerBot, known for their desktop 3D printer, announced the development of a desktop 3D digitizer that has been designed with 3D printing in mind.
