An Ipad edition of Richard William's venerable Animators Survival Kit is expected to be released next month to coincide with his 80th birthday. In addition to the full extended edition, optimised for Ipad reading, this version will also feature 100 animations from the DVD box set and William's unreleased short film Circus Drawings. Today Sony held a press conference unveiling the new Playstation to be released during the holidays this year. With it came many real-time tech demos and gameplay presentation that showed off what the PS4 (and one would assume, the next Xbox) is capable of. A couple of the gameplay demonstrations rivaled the quality of many of today's high end game cinematics. Perhaps the best examples were Infamous: Second Son, confirmed to be running in real-time, and Capcom's Deep Down (also in-engine). (more...)

The California-based Computer History Museum has made available, with Adobe's permission, the source code to the 1990 version 1.0.1 of Photoshop. The code along with some interesting historical info can be found on the museum's website.
