IPi Biomech extends the functionality of IPi Motion Capture for markerless tracking and visualization of Mocap data for medical, sports analysis and movement science applications. The add-on tool provides bio-mechanical analysis of human motion by extracting data from selected bones using convenient coordinate systems (so users can select how coordinates are measured). Tracking data can then be exported to various formats, including Excel or MATLAB. Having a markerless tracking system allows doctors, scientists and others to set up a motion capture system in their offices. More on IPi Soft's website.

Boomer Labs has released an upgrade to its Max to After Effects bridge plugin. Included in this release is support for Max 2015 and Adobe CC 2014, improved layer matching accuracy and additional layer display options. The Blender Foundation announced the release of the latest version of its open source 3D software. New features include: improvements to Cycles renderer (deformation motion blur, fire/smoke rendering and a baking API), enhanced UI, animation has new interpolation types with “easing equations” presets, modeling adds “split normals”, new textured strokes in Freestyle NPR rendering, etc. More on Blender.org.
