The developer of MaxToC4D, MaxToMaya and C4DtoMax has released a tool for transferring 3DS Max scenes to Modo. The plugin allows for quick transfer of Max scenes to Modo, solving common import/export problems automatically. It also offers automatic conversion of scenes with V-Ray materials to Modo "similar" materials and settings. MaxToModo is being offered at an introductory price of $29. More on the 3DtoAll website.

Chaos Group has announced the launch of VRscans Library, a repository of over 400 (and growing) tileable materials scanned using bespoke technology that can produce an exact digital replica of a physical material. Access to the library is provided via subscription to the VRscans plugin which includes access to all the materials for 300 EUR, 420 USD, or 260 GBP per year. A 30 day trial is available on request. Nozon and Chaos Group have announced a technology partnership that will combine PresenZ and V-Ray to create pre-rendered, volumetric VR. This technology will allow artists to render spaces with the illusion of free movement and parallax, without the need for a game engine. Read more on AWN.
