William Vaughan has released MOP Booleans kit, a new non-destructive modelling tool for Modo. The tool is based on Tor Frick's modelling workflow and promises to remove the challenges of working with complex boolean operations with the ability to combine objects that use  poly objects, Modo Subdivs and Catmul-Clarke SubDs with Edge weights.  MOP Booleans kit costs $50. New features in Chaos Group's V-Ray renderer for Modo include: up to 7x faster rendering in scenes with many lights, improved GPU rendering, AlSurface material with layered SSS and glossy fresnel reflections, physically-accurate Glossy Fresnel reflection model, and Texture Isolate for easier texture placement and fine-tuning of procedural textures like Dirt or Noise. The update is free for existing V-Ray 3.x for Modo customers. V-Ray for Modo is available through permanent and rental licensing. More information on Chaos Group's website.

Foundry has released Modo 11.0, the first installment of the Modo 11 series. The latest version of the Foundry's flagship 3D software brings performance improvements, OpenSubdiv 3 support, new MeshFusion modeling features, enhancements to Auto Retopology, improvements to procedural modeling workflows, a new customizable Tool HUD for faster access to frequently used tools, and more. The company now also offers rental licensing options ($59/month, $599/year) in addition to permanent licenses ($1799), as well as a maintenance plan for the later, which provides updates and technical support over the one-year maintenance term ($399/year). The developer of MaxToC4D, MaxToMaya and C4DtoMax has released a tool for transferring 3DS Max scenes to Modo. The plugin allows for quick transfer of Max scenes to Modo, solving common import/export problems automatically. It also offers automatic conversion of scenes with V-Ray materials to Modo "similar" materials and settings. MaxToModo is being offered at an introductory price of $29. More on the 3DtoAll website.
