Anna Frühstück, Ibraheem Alhashim, and Peter Wonka have published a paper (to be presented at SIGGRAPH 2019) that demonstrates a GAN that can create a plausible, large-scale, and art-directable texture map with virtually no boundary artefacts. The Khronos Group has announced that Autodesk has joined the consortium, a regulatory body dedicated to the open standards in 3D graphics including OpenGL, Vulkan, OpenCL and glTF. Specifically, they have joined 3D Formats Working Group to support the Khronos glTF file format and the 3D Commerce Exploratory Group, a group of companies exploring standards and guidelines for the production and distribution of real-time 3D representations of products. Nekki has released a demo video for a new pose prediction tool out it alpha for Cascadeur, its physics-based animation application that promises animators “the ability to create realistic action sequences of any complexity”. The new deep learning features attempts to predict a pose using just 6 main points. Watch the demo on YouTube. Cascadeur is currently in closed beta testing, you can find out more and sign up to test on the Program's website.
