Houdini
SideFX has released a recording explaining how 100 sqm of natural looking wilderness was parametrically created for the environments of Far Cry 5. The approach involved developing procedural tools to create biomes, texture the terrain, setup freshwater networks, generate cliff rocks and more. Watch the presentation on Vimeo.

E-on software has released updates to Vue and PlantFactory. Both tools see UI improvements and Vue also gains improvements to image-based lighting and interoperability, with support for Lightwave 2018. Performance has also been improved with up to 6x faster EcoSystem cache generation and 10% faster rendering of very large EcoSystem populations, in addition to faster read and write mechanisms.
