Ian Failes recently did an interview with some veterans of ILM on the work they did for the film Dragonheart, which celebrates 20 years this week since its initial release. The interview mainly focuses on the development of CARI, which was the facial animation system used by ILM to animate Draco, the dragon. You can read the full interview on the Cartoon Brew website.

The latest version of the open source painting and now also animation software brings a significant update, offering animation support with onion skinning, ability to import/export image sequences, CSV import/export for use with TVPaint and Blender, Spriter scml exporter, significant performance improvements for handling big images, improved layer management and UI, enhancements to grids, guides and snapping, rewritten tablet handling, faster startup, etc.
