Tomorrow October 31st 3DS Max will turn 25 years old. In order to celebrate the anniversary, Tom Hudson, the original programmer of 3D Studio for DOS, who rejoined the 3DS Max development team two years ago, has published a great post with a look back at the origins of the software. 25 years, time flies. Happy birthday 3DS Max! Read it on Autodesk’s Area.

The teapot is full of champagne today!
I’ve been creating since 3D Studio R3 and it’s been an amazing journey. Congratulations to the team!

25 years? Doesn’t seem right. I was 12 years old 25 years ago. I know Max came out when I was in college at age 16-17. Are they counting from the day they started developing it? I started using 3D Studio Dos at age 14 which was just at the border of 3D Studio Dos R3 and R4.

I guess it must be since it started development and not since it was released.

I think 25 years includes 3D Studio.
I started learn 3D Studio when I just entered university.
It has been with me for my entire adult life.
