Researchers from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden have developed the basis for a new electronic paper display that is less than a micrometre thin, flexible and can give all the colors that a regular LED display does. It also requires ten times less energy than a Kindle tablet. More on Chalmers University’s website.
What ever happened to LEPs (light emitting polymers) that were in the news in the late ’90s?! I thought we would have tileable wallpaper by now.
This Chalmers display is expensive, as it uses gold. No photos or videos of it?
@Eric, they only have 2-3 working “pixels” at the moment, I read the full article on another web site.. They need to figure out how to scale it and from what I read, there’s a lot of gold loss during the creation process. Definitely more of a concept than production ready news.
Still cool but not soon I guess.
