Autodesk to preview Stingray game engine at GDC

Autodesk has disclosed some details regarding the game engine the company is developing, which is based on the Bitsquid engine it acquired last year. Stingray will offer simultaneous platform deployment (with a live link between Stingray and multiple target devices), a more efficient pipeline to export 3D content and a data-driven core architecture that makes it easier to change the look of a game without having to rewrite and re-compile the engine. Autodesk will be previewing Stingray at the Game Developers Conference on March 4, from 3:30-4:30PM in Moscone Convention Center, West Hall, Room 3003. More on Autodesk’s site.

Have to observe it’s a great name for a real time game engine renderer

Probably another subscription only package… lately Autodesk announcements suffer from lack of interest because their licensing policys, they have no sense at all

It looks like a great product after finding “Bitsquid” on YouTube… unfortunately since it is Autodesk, I wouldn’t touch it after their recent forced rental shenanigans.

So late to the party on this one. The Unreal engine has been a standard like photoshop in that industry. Now that it’s free good luck with getting anyone on board with this NEW game engine.

Just look at the track record for their “NEW” products that just end up in the gutter.
