Miauu has released Layer States, a tool designed to organize layers in Autodesk 3ds Max through a tab-based interface. The add-on allows users to create multiple setups, known as layer states, within the same scene.
Layer states are stored directly in the MAX file, making them accessible to all team members working on a project. Each state saves the full structure of layers, including properties and objects, with options to restore a scene to the exact state in which it was saved. Stored object properties include visibility in the viewport.
The tool supports multiple layer structures within a single scene, allowing users to organize objects according to categories, properties, tasks, or workflows. It provides options to add, rename, delete, and rearrange tabs, assign unique background and text colors, and highlight active tabs. The interface can be docked within the Layer/Scene Explorer or used as a floating panel.
