i have a few friends who’ve opted to move on to modo 601, rather than take the 45% price increase the UK will suffer in 2013, i’ll stay as long as the place i work at pays the the subs but I too have a plan B now as i added modo 601 a few weeks back.
I see minimal return on my 3dsmax investment over the past years, updates as few and buggy with main updates being a different u.i. color scheme.
Is this true? 45% increase in what? subscription fees?
I got modo as well, but as a complement to max. I can’t really see it as a replacement, but if it continues developing as it has been,,,,who knows?
I have payed my sub but can’t be bothered installing 2013, as it does not seem to be worth the effort. Autodesk just seem to have an assimilation program, buying up and bolting on. No core innovation that I can see.
I admire and relent the max community. Mostly because of ones self eagerness to be a max fanboy. If there is something max doesn’t have that should satisfy you then spend the extra cash and get the bundle. If neither maya max or xsi satisfy your then yes sure switch to HOUDINI or MODO whatever…Just remember if you want to create the best and latest visuals you will no doubt have to spend a good chunk of change. If your business model is based on buying the latest software than you will surely lose on your investment. Today its MODO tomorrow its FRODO…
yeh 45% rise in subscription for start of 2013 from £430inc vat upto £620inc vat due in march 3013
if we were getitng a decent push forward like fluid simulation, vray integration and FINALLY phantom point poly editing like xsi, maya, modo, lightwave…well EVERY single modelling tools except 3dsmax!
autodesk just seem happy on changing the u.i.so you can’t read it.
Where is the information on the “45%” increase. The only thing I found was the information about prices will be changing.
I couldn’t find anything with price numbers. Subscription as been a joke for years now. Too many versions you just end up skipping over and nothing benefits you from being on subscription anymore. All of the subscription “Drops” over the last few releases and years have been pointless.
The only real subscription drop that was worth anything was like 8 or 10 years ago when they gave “Pflow” away as a subscription drop. Now you just get some slapped in coded from a 3rdparty developer that’s un-tested.

current renewal of subs is £360 but NEW subs is £520 this higher price will come into effect in feb/march 2013 for all subscription be they new or ongoing renewals. This is a rise of around 45%, note these prices you need to add 20% VAT also.
this is for UK customers, as usual we suffer another “rip off britain” thing!
enjoy the lower cost this year…also you CAN pre buy 3 years at the lower price if you have the funds.
No matter what Autdesk is trying to suggest. The future is not Autodesk
if they keep bullshitting their customer the way they are doing it now.
3dsmax 2013 is pretty much a disaster and than a price raise of 45% ?
The good news is, you can just cancel your subscription.
If they go on with max like that you don´t have to worry about not updating for the next 6-7 years because you simply won´t miss anything.
We for our part cancled our subscriptions.
We will still use max in the future but also bought a Modo license to
replace 3dsmax in the long term. This is what you get if a company
thinks to have a monopol in a certain area.
