Germany-based Maxon announced the release of the latest versions of its 2D and 3D software. Highlights include:
Cinema 4D 2027.0
- New scatter system: a procedural tool for populating environments with vegetation, rocks, debris, and crowds, with MoGraph integration
- Liquid FX: adds spray, foam and bubbles on top of an existing liquid simulation
ZBrush 2027.0
- New UV Editor: lets artists create, edit and refine UVs directly inside ZBrush, with support for UDIMs and texel density controls
- Selection Sets: save and recall Polygroups, masks, Polypaint, morph targets and UV configurations
Redshift 2027.0
- Procedural Fur & Textiles: generates hair, fibers and knitted materials directly at render time
- Reworked memory architecture: uses available memory more efficiently across a wide range of hardware. The largest gains are expected on high-memory GPUs, unified-memory architectures and multi-GPU systems.
- Faster interactivity & platform Support: major interactivity improvements in Redshift for Cinema 4D shorten the time between making a change and seeing the rendered result, plus NVIDIA RTX Spark support for mobile/power-efficient devices
Red Giant 2027.0:
- Scene Light: a new AI-powered depth-aware relighting tool, allows to place lights into existing live-action footage and CG imagery directly in After Effects. Artists can add realistic interactive light from effects such as muzzle flashes, explosions and environmental sources, or make broader changes such as day-for-night treatments.
- Maxon Noise for Universe: brings the procedural noise patterns familiar to Cinema 4D and Redshift into video and compositing workflows
- Real Lens Flares becomes more flexible: Custom Schmutz lets artists use their own still or animated textures for lens grime, splashes and imperfections, alongside expanded Light Source Types for creating flares appropriate to different real-world lighting sources rather than treating every source like sunlight
Autograph 2027.0:
- Model Context Protocol (MCP) server integration: allows AI agents (such as Claude or ChatGPT) to act as creative assistants, automated project builders or interactive tutors
- Direct connection with Cinema 4D: artists can copy and paste 3D elements directly from Cinema 4D into Autograph
Maxon One includes ZBrush, Cinema 4D, Redshift, Autograph, Red Giant and Universe, and can be rented for $1265 per year. Watch a video and read the press release and release notes for more.
