Dave Wortley has released a handy Maxscript that can create Camera Map projections (including CameraMapPerPixel) of different aspect ratios without needing to use 3rd party plugins or shaders. It works by scaling the camera itself to compensate for the difference between the render aspect ratio and the projected texture’s aspect ratio.

It should probably read ‘…of different aspect ratios withOUT needing to use 3rd party plugins or shaders…’ I guess.
