Character Animation Technologies have posted some information regarding a new muscle deformation system for Max that will be previewed at this year’s SIGGRAPH. CATMuscle allows CG artists to achieve realistic movement, especially on shoulders and other difficult areas of physiology, with a minimum of setup. The muscle systems created with the application can be imported directly into a game engine. CATMuscle reduces the amount of envelope editing required, significantly lowering skin up times. CAT’s website also hints at an upcoming version of Character Animation Toolkit.
