Chaos has released a free Community Edition of V-Ray for Blender, making its rendering technology available to a broader group of users. The offering provides access to the renderer at no cost through a renewable license valid for 90 days.
The Community Edition is positioned for individual users working on learning, teaching, and small-scale projects. It supports students, educators, hobbyists, freelancers, and researchers by providing access to core rendering tools without requiring a paid subscription. The license can be renewed repeatedly at no charge through the company’s account system.
The free version includes access to product updates, documentation, learning resources, and a library of more than 14,000 3D assets. It supports cloud rendering but excludes features such as cloud collaboration, distributed rendering, and certain pipeline integration capabilities. Output is limited to 2K square resolution with 8-bit image quality.
Chaos continues to offer alternative access options alongside the Community Edition. A 30-day free trial provides full access to all features, including advanced rendering and collaboration tools, without restrictions during the trial period. Paid plans remain available for commercial production environments, team workflows, and larger-scale projects, including official support and full feature access.
