Gobotree releases new collections of 3D people
Texture and cut-out repository site Gobotree has entered the 3D people market with 5 new collections of scanned ready-posed characters.
Each collection contains 10 people grouped into themes including elegant people, business people, happy beach people, casual and cafe people.
Assets are available in Max 2012 format with V-Ray (with or without SSS2 skin shaders) or Standard materials as well as FBX, OBJ and Sketchup.
Collections cost £215, or individual models can be purchased for £43 each. Gobotree started life as Vyonyx’s asset library and management system but has grown into an independent library with a dedicated staff. You can find out more about the site and the new models on the Gobotree website.
Same problem that most of these collections have, lack of tasteful diversity.
Very refreshing, great detail and unusually high quality. Looks like there is a free test model.
Thank you for sharing!
Hi Ben,
I am Janek- the guy from Gobotree behind these characters. I appreciate you took your time to comment on our work.
When it comes to diversity, we tried hard to get as much of it as we could within our constraints -but I know from years of experience, that there is never enough of it when it comes to photos and 3d-models of people. Concerning “tastefullness” – I assume that will come down to the taste of each potential user. Can you please elaborate your thoughts in a more particular way, so that we can incorporate your comments into our future collections?
Many thanks for that,
Jan Srnka

Are you from Czechia?
Yes I am 🙂
Mee too :-)… what cameras do you use for photos? DSLR probably not (too expensive), so its either point and shoot cameras, or those Raspberry pi cameras?
We use a 115x DSLR Canon cameras rig.
I didn’t mean to use the term tasteful exclusively. It goes along with the diversity thought, and specifically in regards to the collections.
If I purchased and used your casual collection as it is today, I would be questioned by my clients on the lack of diversity in my renderings. Therefore I could not use your collection as a whole. I would have to use bits and pieces from other collections to avoid diversity comments.
If I can avoid negative comments on my rendering, I consider the rendering to be tasteful to my client. If my renderings only needed one or two people per view, I could use your collections without issue…but I do brick and mortar retail renderings and my clients want to to see busy stores.
what kind of leftist clients do you have?
Thanks Ben, I understand what you are saying.
We will try to incorporate “personal collections” – where you mix all the characters you need from all our characters with the same discount. But it will take some time, as we are dealing with a lot of programming stuff.
Kind regards,
Janek
Could use some Asian models 🙂
Could use some Asian models, a few more ethnic as well 🙂 Also it looks like many of the 3D men are checking out women saying “hey baby!” maybe some more relaxed expressions would be a useful addition. The quality looks great though, keep up the good work!
Thanks for your reflections Eric. I will try incorporating your comments for our next shoot- currently we have one Vietnamese model (2 poses are released at the moment). As for poses, we also have a couple “normal” more relaxed guys- please stay tuned… as we are releasing characters every week. The “hey baby” guys – I assume my personality got somehow reflected into the atmosphere of the photoshoots 🙂
Here are the 2 Asian poses

Funny if it wasn’t sad. Diversity for most here is only racial too.
It is not old, child, middle age, worker , etc…
I never see old people, neither fat people…i suppose they are not “diverse” enough…
🙂 throughout this conversation I had no idea anybody meant “racial” or any sort of “group” diversity. I was thinking strictly clothing, postures, hair colour (or skin colour whatever) – but this political take on it did not cross my mind. All I thought everybody meant was “visual diversity”. This take took me by surprise.
I would simply take more diversity to mean fewer of the stereotypical 20-30 something’s. I’ve had clients ask for more senior citizens and children in my images.. and one client who would always ask me to remove smiley people. Anyway great product. That rig sounds immense.
