what’s the definition of a:
update, upgrade, SP, hotfix or patch?
Update/upgrade/SP are often bug tested and follow a formal release process.
A hotfit/patch can bypass the testing process so that it’s released quicker, but often only addresses specific issues. There is often a group of developers who work outside the main development team, who address hot fixes and handle customer support issues.
Hot fixes/patches may not be rolled back into the next release, where as updates/upgrades/SP are part of the main development efforts.
mat – thanks
I always wondered what the difference was. So the hot fix guys are the medics of the code world.
🙂 So are the service pack ones, but their medicine has to be widely tested on rodents first.
LOL
So Pablo are you saying we can expect a long disclaimer on the side effects of using 3dsMax?
Tell your systems administrator if your experiencing dry mouth, dizziness, loss of hair…..
Ha ha! That’s actually a great idea for an April 1st news item. 🙂
