Side Effects Software has announced the Houdini 16 launch event, which will take place live online on February 6. The new features of the software will be presented by the developers and artists who built them. More on YouTube.
Awesome, finally!
Can’t wait to see what they did with all the solvers 🙂
Every new release of Houdini is a celebration of human mind and a huge artistic buzz in the industry. Even if we already know what the new features will be (and it’s the first time we already know that in a major 3d application) there is a big anticipation for the complete image. This program has conquered the top (via procedural modeling, Simulations and VFX) and now has become more complete in other more easy subjects (procedural modeling, look development and rigging). With indie licences has become perhaps the most powerful and affordable tool available.
Can’t wait to see the muscle and auto-rigging tools!
And yes Chris, at 199$/year for an indie license + 3 free engine licenses, it’s like non sense not to use Houdini if you are Indie!
really looking forward to the new build of houdini
Exciting news. From what I saw in their sneak peak a few months ago this is probably going to be a big release for them.
I hope for good fast rigging and Char. setup tools.
And I hope Houdini 16 will be without ugly flat design like Maya 2017.
How’s the learning curve of Houdini to Modo for example, for a newbie to 3d ?
just start learning everything else is just talking! 🙂
when you want to learn 3D and you want to be good it takes a lot of time. doesn’t matter what type of software!
A priori hard or very hard. But also because you can do much more stuff in Houdini.
What you have to ask is what you want to do in 3D, how much do you understand math(for Houdini), how Houdini nodal system fits in your artistic personality.
So i would say you should try Houdini even if you don’t want to work in it just to know what is it, to know the frontiers of your profession. While Modo is a more conventional program.
