Keentools introduces FaceTracker to Blender
KeenTools has introduced FaceTracker, its facial tracking add-on, to Blender. The 2024.2 update brings this tool to the platform as a free open beta. Previously available for Foundry Nuke and widely used in the VFX industry for live-action face tracking, FaceTracker now offers Blender users professional-grade tracking capabilities.
FaceTracker integrates with the existing FaceBuilder module, allowing users to generate custom 3D head meshes from video frames, enabling fast and accurate tracking of facial performance and head motion. Artists can also improve the animated face geometry with 3D visual effects, such as beauty work, ageing, or adding digital makeup, all while remaining within Blender.
The add-on’s key features include markerless face tracking, FACS blendshapes export, and the ability to create face models on-the-go. Additionally, the tool is designed to work seamlessly with production pipelines outside Blender.
The public beta of FaceTracker resets all existing FaceBuilder trials, allowing users full access to its features. For more information, visit the KeenTools website.
