Magma art collaboration platform integrates “responsible AI”
Magma, a browser-based platform designed for artists, has announced the launch of an open beta for its artist-assist AI and other new features. The platform aims to foster creativity and productivity through a collaborative cloud-based environment. Magma allows artists and educators to create, collaborate, communicate, brainstorm, and share their artwork in real-time.
Magma claims it is actively working on responsible AI usage, implementing features to protect artists’ rights and ensure transparency. The AI blocks the use of artists’ names in prompts unless explicit permission is granted, and AI-generated content is permanently marked as such. The platform also maintains a complete prompt history record for each canvas, allowing collaborators to view all prompts used. Furthermore, Magma’s AI layer tagging system and prompt history records can help artists establish human ownership, aligning with recent statements from the US copyright office regarding AI-generated works.
In its ongoing efforts, Magma is prioritizing additional AI solutions, such as enabling artists to detect, license, and monetize their styles, as well as improving AI visibility on downloaded artworks shared outside of the platform.
